Mikayla Cutler

Mikayla is a senior at Loyola University Chicago pursuing a degree in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in Biology. Their interest in neuroscience stems from a place of personal adversity; 3 years ago, they fell down a flight of 14 concrete stairs and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Throughout their recovery, a clear linear relationship emerged: as their healing progressed, their desire to understand the neurobiological mechanisms driving their recovery intensified. Mikayla is particularly interested in the intersection of visual cognition and memory and aims to pursue a PhD to further explore this field of research. Outside of the MNEME lab, Mikayla can be found automating stimuli creation processes for Dr. Baker’s Human Perception Lab, writing melancholy poetry, reading memoirs and making soup. And petting the cat, Sock, of course.

Mikayla was awarded the William and June Pizzi Fellowship for Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience!
