Lab Culture

I aim to create a lab environment where people feel respected, supported, and able to do their best work. I value a wide range of perspectives and experiences, and I strive to ensure that everyone has access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. By fostering a collaborative and respectful culture, I hope to support both the quality of our science and the well-being of everyone in the lab.

Increasing Engagement Through Connection

I’m committed to helping students make the most of their academic experience by creating an environment that’s engaging, encouraging, and enjoyable to be part of. I want students to feel supported and confident in pursuing their goals, and I believe it’s important for them to see a path forward in the field. I’ll continue to offer guidance, opportunities, and a positive lab culture that helps them grow both personally and professionally.

Mentorship Style and Teaching Philosophy

Mentoring students is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work. I’m always excited to work with motivated trainees who are curious about the neurobiology of learning and memory. My role is to help them develop into independent scientists by providing the tools, guidance, and support they need to reach their goals. I involve students in project design, encourage critical thinking and problem-solving through the literature, and aim to expose them to a wide range of techniques and approaches.
