Melissa Wilson
Melissa graduated from Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience Program at Loyola University Chicago. She transferred from Joliet Junior College where she earned an Associate in Science degree with high honors. She is currently a post-bac in the lab of Dr. Andrew Holmes at the NIAAA an hopes to go on to earn her Ph.D. in neuroscience and then do a post-doc. In addition to the MNEME lab, she also worked in the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (CAN) Lab with Dr. Bob Morrison. She is primarily interested in neuroscience because it is a highly dynamic and challenging field, inherently rewarding due to constant advancements in technology and the production of new knowledge. Neuroscience is always on the verge of discovery which often leads to more questions, questions she wants to find the answers to. Melissa is particularly excited to learn about circuit-perturbing methodologies such as optogenetics and thoroughly enjoys data analysis. Outside of the lab, she is a recent Alpha Sigma Nu inductee and works part-time to support herself. Melissa spends her free time going for walks, playing Animal Crossing with friends, and taking naps with her cat Pumpkin.
