Hussain Asgarali
Hussain Asgarali graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a major in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. He is now a first year medical student at University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. Hussain studied Arabic Literature and Islamic History overseas in Nairobi, Kenya for 7 years, while memorizing the Quran by heart. His interest in medicine grew from this experience as he participated in multiple medical missions to third-world countries. When he returned, at the start of the pandemic, he felt it was important to expand his knowledge of medicine and began working in a pharmacy. Soon after, he acquired a position as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Kindred Hospital with the aim of attaining hands-on experience in a medical setting. These experiences have solidified his aspiration of becoming a physician, as he is passionate about helping others. Aside from his interest in the medical field, he enjoys playing sports such as football, volleyball, and biking. He is a traveler at heart and has been to multiple countries such as Morocco, Egypt, Iraq, Italy, Belgium, France, UK, Zambia, Tanzania, to name only a few! Some fun facts: He has pet doves and lets them fly around his house when he wants to annoy his sister. In March, he got married to his amazing wife Alefya and has already been on two road trips with her. They have created a travel list and hope to travel the world together!
